Two Athletics events with Scoil Ursula representation take place over the next week. First off tomorrow, Saturday the 29th of September, our Cross Country Teams are in action in Calry in the Sligo Primary Schools Championships. Then next Friday the SuperValu Athletics Fest in the IT will feature Boys and Girls Teams from Scoil Ursula. We wish all our athletes the best of luck in their efforts. See below for details: We had our Sports Day last Friday with Olympics 4 Schools. It was a great day of fun and competition and everybody had a brilliant time. The Boys' and Girl's Football Teams have made excellent starts to their Cumann na mBunscol campaigns this season. Both teams have recorded three wins from three with victories over St. Edward's, Our Lady of Mercy and St. John's. One more win against Grange NS on June 11th will qualify them for the final in Markievicz Park on June 16th. We wish them well and thank their coaches Ms Caffrey & Ms Hoey for having them in such good shape this year. There was great success for many pupils of Scoil Ursula in Feis Shligigh this year with many of the competitors working very hard outside school and giving great performances on stage. There was however one group of actors and actresses from 5th and 6th class who worked very hard during and after school learning lines and rehearsing their drama. They are of course the cast from "If you go down to the Woods". Today they took home the D.A. Mulcahy Cup for the National Schools Drama Competition in Feis Shligigh. Over the past few months they performed the play twice in the school and were rewarded today for all their effort, achieving 95% from the adjudicator. We are all very proud of them today. A huge thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff for their help in putting this production together.
Congratulations to one and all who were involved in the Feis today you've done yourselves and your school very proud! Our school hosted the Sligo County Final of the Easons Spelling Bee. Congratulations to James Devaney from St. Patrick's National School, Calry who goes on to represent Sligo in the Connacht Final. Well done also to our representative, Ateeq Jamshaid, who reached the last four on the day.
Scoil Ursula will be hosting the Sligo Spelling Bee Final tomorrow in the Halla from 12 to 1:30pm. It promises to be a great showcase of talent from all the children involved and we can't wait to see who wins! Good luck to all involved!
