Sligo Triathlon club's annual Club Try a Tri is taking place on April 6th so spread the word. It is open as usual for adults and juniors who are newcomers to the sport. As these are super sprint distances, we also want to encourage individuals who have participated in a limited number of triathlons to also participate in this event especially as it is a good means of training for the season ahead. So this event is not just limited to 'newbies'! This year we really want to encourage juniors aged between 10-18 years to participate and be exposed to this growing sport. If students aren’t prepared to participate individually, it is hoped that they will be encouraged to take part in a relay team. We will have 2 separate race events a Children’s Event and a Junior and Adults Event. The age categories for the Children's Event are as follows: 10 -11 Years 12 -13 Years 14 -15 Years The distances will be: 200m swim, 4km cycle, 2 km run All activity will take place as usual at the Sports Complex. All info is contained below and race entry is through Triathlon Ireland. https://www.triathlonireland-newserver.com/local-races.html As this is pool based Tri, numbers are limited and places will be filled on a first come first served basis. Don't leave entering until the last minute as places are liked to be snapped up quickly. You have been warned! We are also hosting a FREE Junior coaching day on Sunday March 2nd at Sligo Sports Complex as an introduction to the sport of triathlon. To all interested juniors, please email the following email address in order to register and obtain further details: [email protected]. For all info you may seek regarding this event, please contact the aforementioned email address. 20 athletes from Scoil Ursula travelled to Sligo IT to take part in the Fit2Walk 1K Race-Walking Challenge where they met World 50Km Champion Rob Heffernan from Cork.
