Well done to our youngest stars of stage, the Junior Infant classes who performed a beautiful uplifting nativity play this morning called "Woops a Daisy Angel". A big thank you to their wonderful teachers, Ms Cogan, Ms Dwyer & Mrs Corcoran who produced and directed this marvellous performance. We also thank our Student Council for their ushering and fund-raising all this week at all our shows. Thanks to them and the generosity of our parents & staff, we raised €750 for the Marcus Moore Trust for Cancer Research and Sligo Social Services. We are grateful to our Chairperson, Marian Moore, (Marcus' mum) and Lisa (his sister) who provided us with spot prizes for our after-show raffles in aid of these worthy causes. Well done to everybody!!! See some pics below and a video snippet. More pics of the other shows to follow :-) It is with great excitement that Scoil Ursula will present their first panto-style musical Cinderella and Rockerfella. This production will provide audiences with all the essential pantomime ingredients of Ugly Sister dames, a rag-to-riches heroine, a dashing prince and a dust-sprinkling fairy godmother. This show with will have the audiences humming tunes all the way home, with a few ‘hisses’, ‘boos’ and ‘it’s behind you’s to boot! This fantastic summer special will take place next week on the 11th, 12th and 13th of June at 7 pm in the Scoil Ursula Halla. Tickets will be sold on the door at just 3 euro for adults and 1 euro for children. This production is in aid of Cystic Fibrosis. The children on Scoil Ursula can also buy tickets in school each day. A very special charity close to the heart of Scoil Ursula, as our very own teacher Ms. Caffrey, whose brave cousin Tríona Priestley has been battling this disease for the last 14 years. Bhí Lá Glas againn ar Aoine Sheachtain na Gaeilge le ceol, craic, rinnce, dramaíocht agus Tráth na gCeist. Bhí lá íontach ag gach duine agus comghairdeas do na Smólaigh a bhuaigh Tráth na gCeist i mbliana. D'ullmhaigh Rang a 6 'Flashmob an Dreoilín' don scoil ar fad. We had some very special guests at our Assembly; members of the Board of Management: Canon Tom Hever, John Mc Nabola and our Chairperson Marian Moore. There was plenty of stories, prayer, song and live music! We've got some clips of the fantastic singing and music with thanks to everyone who took part and especially to Ms. Branley for organising our talented music group and practicing the songs with all of the classes. Everyone here in Scoil Ursula would like to wish you and yours a Happy, Holy and Peaceful Christmas full of joy and laughter and the very best wishes for the New Year. See you all in 2013!
Another great performance from Ms. Crowley & Mrs. Kernan's classes as they tell the story of the birth of our Lord. Hope you all enjoy the clips as much as we enjoyed the production! Last week we were all treated to a fantastic performance of "It's a Baby!", a nativity sing along play by Mrs. Corcoran's and Ms. Dwyer's Junior Infant Classes. The whole school came along to the Halla to share in this great Christmas tradition. We were able to record clips of the play so that you can see the Oscar winners of the future in action! Well done to all of the pupils and staff involved in this wonderful production! The John Murray Radio Show popped in to Scoil Ursula last week and talked to some of our 1st Class pupils about Halloween and Sligo. The children dressed up in their costumes and chatted to Colm, the show's interviewer. The show was broadcast on Friday during the Sligo Live Show and you can listen back by clicking on the link below. The kids are on at around the 35 minute mark.http://www.rte.ie/radio/radioplayer/rteradioweb.html#!rii=9%3A10067691%3A4502%3A26%2D10%2D2012%3A For a number of weeks and months now members of the Music Generation Sligo team have been visiting Scoil Ursula and working with the children in music lessons. These lessons have been really fun interactive and a great learning experience for the children. The events taking place in Sligo on International Music Day 21st June involve many members of the Music Regeneration Sligo team. So maybe if you are around Johnston's Court on the day or listening to Ocean FM you'll catch some of their fantastic music!
A big thank you to all who helped bring this wonderful experience to our school over the past while! West Midlands Theatre Group performed "The King of Copenhagen" for the Junior classes of Scoil Ursula last week. It was a very enjoyable interactive performance as you can see from the photos below.
