Our new Active School Motto is:
Congratulations to the three winners of our Active School Flag Competition. We had competitions for pupils to create an Active School Flag Motto, a Logo and a colouring competition too! Well done to our three winners: Ellen, Danielle and Zusia! Our new Active School Motto is: As part of the Green Schools initiative in our school and tying in with the recent launch of the Active School campaign we participated in the National Scoot on Wednesday (SOW) Day last week. Lots of the children scooted to school and we had scooter races in the yard too. This is all to highlight the different healthier and greener ways to travel to school. It was great fun and we hope to do it again soon! Bhí craic iontach againn sa Halla inné ag an ceolchoirm le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaeilge. Féach ar na pictiurí, MP3s agus na fistéipeanna thíos agus bainigí taitneamh as! Léigh Ryan, Amy, Aoife agus Ella scéalta do na paistí sna Naíonaín agus Rang a hAon agus a dó. Thaitin na scéalta go mór le gach páiste. Congratulations to our Girls GAAmigos team who qualified for the county finals of this year's skills competition!! Hard luck to the boys team who narrowly failed to get through after a brave effort. Céad Míle Fáilte A Chairde, we are delighted to be celebrating the 16th World Book Day in Ireland on Thursday 6th March 2014. Over the last 16 years World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading by providing them with an opportunity to have a book of their own. This may sound like a very simple idea, but unfortunately, many children do not have access to books in their homes. Don’t forget that you can now also follow us on Facebook and Twitter. We will have lots of great competitions and giveaways as well as news, info and reading resources. As always, happy reading. Any child interested in taking part in the St. Mary's Community Games please contact Katie Maher 087 9197308 A number of Scoil Ursula pupils travelled to the Model Niland Gallery on Valetine's Day to help launch a fundraiser in association with the Friends of Sligo Regional Hospital. It is hoped to involve schools from around Sligo in a June fundraiser to help improve cardiac services in the hospital. Pupils will collect €2 coins which will hopefully cover the pedestrian bridge at Rockwood Parade. |
