 The teachers of Scoil Ursula have recently undergone training in CPR and use of AED life saving equipment. In order for the school to get a free defibrillator for the campus we need to collect 250 old phones. If you have any old phones lying around the house then please do donate them to the school. There is a collection box just inside the main door so you can't miss it.
A wonderful Multi-Cultural event took place in the school over two days this week. Pupils with family origins in many countries including Germany, India, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Pakistan, Phillipines, Poland, Portugal & Spain displayed projects in the halla. All the pupils got a chance to sample traditional dishes as well as learning about the culture, language, dress and heritage of these lands. A big thank you to Mrs Mc Moreland for co-ordinating this most enjoyable and informative event. See slide show below:  As part of Scoil Ursula's Greenschools initiative, our pupils took to the footpaths on WOW Day (Walk on Wednesday). 212 children walked to school on the day. Those who live too far away did Park 'n Stride with 64 pupils asking their parents to drop them some distance away from the school to save on fuel and promote healthy exercise. Children are encouraged to this this as often as possible especially during the fine spell of weather we are currently enjoying. 
A number of talented musicians, singers and dancers performed a concert in the Southern Hotel for a large group of elderly guests to mark European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations. The Scoil Ursula participation in this thoroughly enjoyed event was organised by School Secretary, Mary Meehan and the repertoire was co-ordinated by teacher, Mary Branley. A big thank you to everyone involved especially the performers you can see below!!              The Boys' and Girl's Football Teams have made excellent starts to their Cumann na mBunscol campaigns this season. Both teams have recorded three wins from three with victories over St. Edward's, Our Lady of Mercy and St. John's. One more win against Grange NS on June 11th will qualify them for the final in Markievicz Park on June 16th. We wish them well and thank their coaches Ms Caffrey & Ms Hoey for having them in such good shape this year.
A huge Congratulations! to all our Students of the Month! Well done on being a great example to all the students of Scoil Ursula! 
 It's that time of year again where we all go book crazy here in Scoil Ursula!
The Book Fair is taking place this Thursday and Friday the 17th and 18th of May in the Halla in the school. There'll be hundreds of great books to choose from so shake out some coins out of those piggy banks! We all love a good book and an interest in reading sets our children up for life. Parents, family and friends are welcome to come to the Book Fair too! Watch out for the reminder text on your phones this week for more details. We're all a bunch of book worms here! :) |
