Keep up the great work and have a very Happy Christmas!
Well done to the winners of the Student of the Month and Handwriters of the Month Awards!
Keep up the great work and have a very Happy Christmas! Today we had a wonderful Christmas Prayer Service filled with songs, stories and prayers. We sang our hearts out and the school hall was filled with the joy and fun of Christmas. Huge thanks to Ms Mc Hugh and all the boys and girls in her musical ensemble for leading us in song. We were also grateful to have Canon Tom and Marian Moore, our Chairperson, join us in the Hall for this special occasion. We want to wish all of the Scoil Ursula Family, our parents, pupils, staff and many many friends near and far a very Happy holy and Peaceful Christmas and all the joy and laughter in the world for the New Year ahead. Heartfelt thanks to one and all for all of your amazing support and hard work over the past year! YOU all have made Scoil Ursula the super school that it is for all of our boys and girls!! The teachers and pupils were asked to contribute a Christmas tree decoration made from recyclable materials for the Christmas tree festival in Lissadell. 50+ trees were displayed decorated by schools and community groups. There was a great response and some beautiful decorations, glittery lanterns, paper doily angels, paper chains, pictures and mini trees made from pieces of jigsaw puzzle. Our tree was one of the biggest and had one of the prime positions amongst all the others. There was a great crowd of visitors all over the weekend to see all the trees and visit the craft stalls. Nationwide, the TV programme, also came out to film so keep an eye out on the television for a look at all the trees. Donations from the festival were going to support Acquired Brain Injury and the Lissadell Centre. Any child that made a decoration and would like to bring it home they will be in a box in the cookery room until the end of the week. Thanks to all the teachers and pupils who contributed.
Junior Achievement Ireland has been working with Scoil Ursula, Sligo for 5 years.
Junior Achievement Ireland encourages young people to remain in education and helps them develop the skills they need to succeed in a changing world. Junior Achievement is part of a worldwide organisation reaching out to 9.3 million young people each year. It was established in Ireland in 1995 and since then has built up a strong demand from schools throughout the country and created successful partnerships with over 180 leading organisations. JA programmes help to create a culture of enterprise within the education system. We also help young people prepare for the world of work, giving them skills in communications and preparing for interviews. Financial literacy programmes enable students to explore how to manage, protect and make the most of future salaries. As we move towards a knowledge-based economy, JA also brings science and maths skills to thousands of young students nationwide as our business volunteers work to deliver exciting programmes and events. Scoil Ursula is proud to be associated with Junior Achievement. Our pupils have benefited greatly from the workshops delivered and we look forward to many more of our pupils gaining knowledge and skills from JA into the future. |
