Ocean FM meets Scoil Ursula!

Mr. Mitchell, Ailbhe Foley, Conor Bastible and Ailbhe Morgan made their way out to Ocean FM Studios in Collooney Sligo today to be interviewed by Francie Boylan live on the radio. They were there to promote their amazing pantomime "Cinderella and Rockerfella" which is on for its final night tonight at 7pm in Scoil Ursula Hall. It has been a huge success so far and was a sell out show last night so be sure to come early to get a good seat and sit back for a great nights entertainment!

Multicultural Day

Well done to everybody who took part in our Multi-Cultural Day yesterday. It was a wonderful celebration of diversity, where all our pupils got an opportunity to sample a variety of aspects of life in different countries. One-fifth of Scoil Ursula's pupil population have origins in different nations and the children displayed fantastic projects incorporating aspects of culture such as language, history, faith, fashion, music, sport and off course the ever-popular food-tasting.

A big thank you to our Multi-Cultural Co-ordinator, Mrs Mc Moreland, for organising this event and preparing the wonderful 'Where we are From - Map of the World ' backdrop to the display (above) and also to our Language Support Teacher, Ms Branley, for her input into the day. Thanks also to the parents who cooked long into the night preparing the delicious food we all enjoyed sampling on the day.

Scoil Ursula National Children's Choir Reunite

The School's National Children's Choir, who performed in the National Concert Hall in 2011 were reunited to sing at the wedding of their director's daughter. Deputy Principal, Mrs Corcoran conducted the choir once more along with a few extra Scoil Ursula choristers as her daughter, Sarah, married her fiancé, Seamus, in the Cathedral on Saturday. We wish them both health & happiness into the future.

International Music Day

For a number of weeks and months now members of the Music Generation Sligo team have been visiting Scoil Ursula and working with the children in music lessons. These lessons have been really fun interactive and a great learning experience for the children. The events taking place in Sligo on International Music Day 21st June involve many members of the Music Regeneration Sligo team. So maybe if you are around Johnston's Court on the day or listening to Ocean FM you'll catch some of their fantastic music!
A big thank you to all who helped bring this wonderful experience to our school over the past while!

West Midlands Theatre Perform at Scoil Ursula

West Midlands Theatre Group performed "The King of Copenhagen" for the Junior classes of Scoil Ursula last week. It was a very enjoyable interactive performance as you can see from the photos below.

European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations

A number of talented musicians, singers and dancers performed a concert in the Southern Hotel for a large group of elderly guests to mark European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations. The Scoil Ursula participation in this thoroughly enjoyed event was organised by School Secretary, Mary Meehan and the repertoire was co-ordinated by teacher, Mary Branley. A big thank you to everyone involved especially the performers you can see below!!

Drumming Workshop

There was drumming galore today in Scoil Ursula when Peter Crann came by to facilitate a samba drumming workshop.
Children had experience of many different types of drums and were able to hear the way the drumbeat brings life to music and story.
Peter is recently back in Ireland after spending time in Senegal teaching children there about Irish music and has returned to teach Irish children the beat of African music.
