Congratulations to our recently retired Lollipop Man, Tom Mac Sharry, who was honoured today by the Road Safety Authority with a Leading Light Award. At a ceremony in Farmleigh House, Tom's contribution to road safety at Scoil Ursula over the past sixteen years was féted by RTE correspondent and current social media sensation, Teresa Mannion, who MCd today's event. He was then presented with his award by RSA Chairperson, Liz O' Donnell.
Tom was nominated by Scoil Ursula for his outstanding contribution to the safety of our pupils during his tenure as School Traffic Warden. He was also nominated by two members of the Feehily family; Eamonn, a current 6th Class pupil and Erin a past pupil who wrote fondly in the nomination about how Tom was the single most significant person she missed when she moved on to Post Primary school.
At a very enjoyable occasion last Wednesday, Tom was accompanied by his wife Ellen; his niece, Deirdre; the Feehily family, Mary, Seamus, Erin & Eamonn; his great friend and our school secretary, Mary Meehan, and school principal, Tony Gallagher. Well done Tom and enjoy this richly deserved accolade!!
Tom's outstanding contribution to Scoil Ursula was also marked on Friday last, when colleagues past and present came to a Mass & farewell meal in the school to honour him for dedicated service to the school over 16 years.
