The Strengthening Families Programme is an evidence based programme for families are holding an information session in the Sligo Education Centre on Thursday 31st January @ 5pm. Any enquires please contact Carol Mc Loughlin 071 91 53504 .  Angela Merici, or Angela de Merici, (21 March 1474 – 27 January 1540) was an Italian religious leader and saint. She founded the Order of Ursulines in 1535 in Brescia. She named the order after Saint Ursula, an earlier saint to whom she was devoted.
We celebrate her feast day on January 27th. Prayer: Saint Angela, you were not afraid of change. You did not let stereotypes keep you from serving. Help us to overcome our fear of change in order to follow God's call and allow others to follow theirs. Amen  Catholic Schools Week 2013:
Catholic Schools in the Community of Faith: Sharing the Good News The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2013 is: ‘Catholic Schools in the Community of Faith: Sharing the Good News’. Catholic Schools Week 2013 will be mindful of two major issues for the year 2013 (a) Year of Faith and (b) Share the Good News. The theme of CSW 2013 reflects both. CSW 2013 will begin on Sunday January 27 2013 and end on February 3 2013. We will be marking the event in Scoil Ursula in a number of ways throughout the school beginning on Monday with a Prayer Service at the Mary Garden and culminating in a St. Brigid's Day Assembly on Friday We are having our Annual Open Day for new pupils on Wednesday, February 6th from 1pm to 2pm. If you have a child starting school this September, feel free to come along and view our school and its facilities in a friendly, informal setting. If you know of anyone in your locality, with a child starting school in September, please invite them to come along on the day or get in touch with Mary on 9162835.  It's Spelling Bee time again and the pupils of 5th & 6th Classes are brushing up on their vocabulary to see who will represent the school in this year's county final. The school final takes place on Thursday next. The winner will go on to participate in the Sligo Final which Scoil Ursula will host on Wednesday, February 20th at 12:00. Good luck to all our spellers!!
The Irish Sports Council and the 33 Local Sports Partnerships around the country have teamed up with RTE’s Operation Transformation Programme ( presenter Kathryn Thomas) to encourage people to follow a healthy lifestyle in 2013. People of Sligo are been encouraged to kick start a healthy and active lifestyle for 2013 by joining Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership at 12 noon on Saturday 19th January for one of the Operation Transformation National Walks. The meeting place for the walk is JFK Parade Sligo and the route will follow along Doorly Park over a distance of 4 kilometres. See details below: |
