The Parents' Association have once again done themselves proud in organising a fun filled Easter Egg hunt again this year. All the children really enjoyed running around looking for the mini chocolate eggs and of course the hunt was on for the one big egg that was hidden on the grounds. What fun we had and what great weather to have our Easter Egg hunt in! Thanks a million to Susan Cox and Marie Kilfeather for organising such an enjoyable event!! Today we remember Blathnaid Foley, past pupil of our school. She holds a special place in our hearts here in Scoil Ursula and since the Blathnaid Foley Trust was set up we have tried to raise a little money for this worthy cause by having our Annual Lilac Day. This was Blathnaid's favourite colour too. Thanks to the fabulous support of our Parents, Pupils & Staff Members, Scoil Ursula will present a cheque for €400 to Blathnaid's parents Fiona & John. We are also grateful to recently retired teacher, Grace Whelan and her husband, Mike, who donated scones for the staff fundraiser on Lilac Day.
As the new Cumann na mBunscol Season gets underway shortly, we are very grateful for the generous sponsorship of Gerry Kelly and Rathedmond Engineering, who presented the girls' football team with a brand new set of jerseys before their first training sesion on Thursday. Although Gerry's daughter, Mary, is long since gone from Scoil Ursula, he continues his association with the school and we are very thankful for his continued support. Gerry presented the new kit to Ms Caffrey, this year's girls' coach in the company of the girls' squad and Ms Hoey, who is training the boys' team. We wish both teams well in their campaign which begins after Easter.
![]() Our Annual Lilac Day in aid of the Bláthnaid Foley Trust takes place this Friday, the 23rd of March. It is a Non-Uniform Day, when pupils wear lilac/purple and we ask for a small donation of one or two euro towards research into Ewing’s Sarcoma. The Annual Bláthnaid Foley Trust Ball will take place in the Radisson SAS on Saturday, March 24th and we encourage you to support this worthy cause. Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge againn an seachtain seo caite agus bhí Lá Glas sa scoil ar an Aoine. Bhí na páistí gléasta suas in éadaí glasa agus bhí Ceolchoirm mór le ceol, filíocht, amhránaíocht, rinnce, drámaíocht agus craic go leor ag gach éinne!! Bhí Tráth na gCeist ag na ranganna sinsearacha sa thráthnóna agus bhain gach duine taitneamh as. Míle buíochas le Bean Nhic Mhuraláin & Iníon Nic Reannacháin agus na múinteoirí go léir a mhaisigh an halla agus a shocraigh an ócáid speisialta seo. Our school hosted the Sligo County Final of the Easons Spelling Bee. Congratulations to James Devaney from St. Patrick's National School, Calry who goes on to represent Sligo in the Connacht Final. Well done also to our representative, Ateeq Jamshaid, who reached the last four on the day.
