We've just been notified of another brilliant installment of the Incredible Years Parent Programme being held in Sligo Education Centre. Please do spread the word and if you are interested please contact the Centre as soon as possible as the course starts this coming Monday 10th March. If you wish you can download and complete the application form and perhaps email it to the Centre today. As part of our School Improvement Plan to raise literacy standards in our school, we are asking parents to donate new or used books for our Classroom Libraries. The Parents' Association have generously donated €1,000 to provide new books for our libraries and some parents have already made donations of books to the school. If you have books at home that your children have outgrown and they are taking up room on your bookshelves please feel free to drop them in to us. Please be aware of the following criteria:

This year, for the first time, Scoil Ursula ran a pilot Book Rental Scheme for Junior Infant Classes. Now we need your help in evaluating the success of the scheme. The NCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment) has developed some new maths resources for parents in partnership with the Marino Institute of Education. They include 12 video clips and two tip sheets all focused on the infant level in primary schools. The purpose of the resources is to share ideas and tips with parents for things they can do using everyday items, to help their children learn and have fun with maths. Our bag 2 school fundraiser has now commenced and we would ask all parents to drop the bags to the school on the morning of Friday 26th October. This is a unique opportunity for all of us to recycle any unwanted clothing,shoes,bags,belts and soft toys, whilst helping to raise funds for the school.Bag 2 School will donate an additional 10% to The Lauralynn House,Irelands first childrens hospice.If you have already filled the Bag 2 School bag your child(ren) brought home you can use any bag you may have to donate more.The Parents Association are aiming to provide the senior block with books as part of the literacy programme and the junior block with books as part of the jolly phonics programme.All donations of unwanted items is very much appreciated. |
