We've just been notified of another brilliant installment of the Incredible Years Parent Programme being held in Sligo Education Centre. As part of our services we continue to offer workshops/information sessions on safe and responsible use of the internet, cyberbullying and online education to all young people and their parents. Each workshop is designed to suit individual group needs and age. Workshops are aimed at educating young people to become responsible internet users and raising their awareness of the consequences now and in the future of their online actions and comments. The workshops are interactive and discussion based using wordsearches, quizzes and games. An information evening on the topic of Internet Safety will take place in Sligo Education Centre (on the grounds of IT Sligo) on Monday the 27th of February at 7:30pm. This workshop, delivered by your local National Parents Council Sligo County Branch, focuses on strategies for improving communication between parents and children and negotiating boundaries relating to their internet use. Parents will get to hear young people talk about how they use the internet, why it is attractive to them and get an insight into children's main worries when online, such as cyber bullying. Parents will be introduced to strategies to help their children be responsible, effective and safer internet users.
Sligo Education Centre in conjunction with Sligo County Childcare and Sligo Leader is hoping to run the Incredible Years Parent Training Programme after Christmas if there is enough demand.
