Gaining inspiration from the poem by Ian McMillan 'Ten things found in a wizard's pocket',(click on the poem title to read it in full!) in keeping with the Hallowe'en theme, we created our own version of the poem, but our poem was entitled 'ten things found in a witch's pocket'! Superb poetry was written from all in the class, extremely original and very inventive!
We had great fun- and created quite the mess!!- when we had this art lesson. It was like six mini art projects on the go at once. These are called inchies because they all measure 3 inches. We created a beautiful sunflower with crepe paper on a light blue background, next was a water painted silhouette tree, then we made a wax resist pumpkin, we also did a sticker resist Autumn shape, a coin resist on paint(which wasn' t hugely successful, as the paint dried too quickly!, and finally a blackbird on a newspaper background. Phew! A lot going on, but lots of fun, as well! The class designed some very original Hallowe'en witches with 3D noses, original faces and hats, and some even had a spider dangling from the nose! Have a look! Third and fourth classes were blessed with a beautiful crisp Autumnal day to embark on a nature walk up to Kevinsfort. We were extremely fortunate to have the grand expertise of Mrs. McNabola, who very kindly came out of retirement for the afternoon! Mrs. Mc Nabola is truly a wealth of information and showed us all the different species of trees in Kevinsfort, such as the maple, beech, oak and sycamore, as well as of course the fairy tree! We also really enjoyed listening to her old stories from the farm she grew up on. We created some fabulous clay hedgehogs using clay and toothpicks. We had some very unique hedgehogs, including some mohicans and trunks! Have a look at them below! |
