ITEM:

Fás Le Chéile and Sugradh Le Cheile (HSE programmes)
Fás Le Chéile (a Parent Support Programme offered by the HSE) was discussed and it was decided that the following courses would be the most relevant at the moment to Scoil Ursula parents:
Positive Parenting;
Parents, Schoolchildren and Drugs and Living with Teens (Family communication and self-esteem).

No decision was reached on progressing the Fás Le Chéile programme at the moment.

Discussion took place on the Sugradh Le Cheile programme, involving the children and their parents in simple playground games, such as hopscotch, rounders, etc. It is proposed to pilot this programme with the two First Class classes. Jackie Leonard is to contact Ann Lawlor to confirm how many parents need to be involved and what is a suitable date and time. Bernie Murphy is to prepare a letter explaining the Sugradh Le Cheile programme to the parents of the children in First Class. Marie Kilfeather and Tanya Murren will take the letters to the classes for distribution.

Christmas 2009 Fundraisers
Proposed activities for Christmas 2009 are a Christmas Bazaar, Carol Singing and a Scoil Ursula Christmas card.

Pauline McLoughlin proposed we hold a fundraising Christmas Fair/Bazaar which would sell homemade crafts and foodstuffs. This could also include donations of
saleable Bric-a-brac (CD’s, DVD’s, books, jewellery) with ticket selling for prizes donated from shops, etc. Discussions also included incorporating a Tombola into the fair. After much debate it was proposed to hold the fair on Friday 4 December, between 6.00 and 9.00pm.

Permission is to be sought from Mrs McSharry and letters requesting spot prizes have to be prepared, if the green light is given. A meeting of those who are able to assist with the Christmas Bazaar is to take place on Tuesday 10 November at 9.00 in Scoil Ursula (Cookery room

For the Christmas cards, Bernie Murphy is to cost the printing of cards using one single scene. Details for next meeting

Carol singing to be organised at the entrance to the Halla on the night of the bazaar. Gladys will check with St. Mary’s Community Youth Choir. As the bazaar is to be organised this year it was decided that there will be no carol singing organised for Quayside this year.
