Fás Le Chéile and Sugradh Le Cheile (HSE programmes)

Positive Parenting;
Parents, Schoolchildren and Drugs ).
Agreed to be completed with the two 1st classes and if it runs well to think about completing it with other classes. The time agreed on was 9:15a.m. until 10:45a.m. on whatever day the hall is free. Gladys to check with the school as to what day suits. When all is agreed a letter will be typed up and Marie Kilfeather will distribute them among the appropriate classes involved.

Christmas 2009 Fundraisers
All agreed the Bazaar was a great success. There was over €2,000 made on the night and it has been lodged into the account by Marie and Susan. Some suggestions made about it. They included:
Have bazaar only.thought the 2 draws confused people. Maybe sell the tickets for the second draw during the break or before the bazaar takes place. mention all the sponsors involved with the night individually. Maybe to have a list of all the sponsors displayed on entry of the hall. was concern that there was too much going on at once with the bric and brack stall, cake stall, tea and coffee stall, hot punch stall and all the children’s activities. People seemed mainly only interested in the bazaar itself.
There was only a few calendars sold on the night but there was 15 extra sold by going around the houses in Kevinsfort afterwards.
Arrange for thank you letters to be sent out to all the sponsors involved and maybe get their names added to the school web-site.
School Photos (by County Photos)
School photos took place for Junior Infants, 3 and 6 classes on Monday 9 November 2009. All went well and the money has been lodged into the account.
It was suggested that next year we look for a local business to take on the photo taking.

Code Of Discipline, freeze bell
There is a great ongoing concern as to how the freeze bell works and as to what the children’s involvement in it is. It is understood that each teacher has their own code of discipline in use and some have a black book involved. It was suggested that each class representative would ask their teacher as to what their discipline code is. To be discussed more at the next meeting as to whether to go ahead with it or not.
Pancake Day
To be discussed with Mr Tony Gallagher about going ahead with it.
Last year it took place in the kitchen with one class at a time. Was suggested that this year maybe it takes place in the hall at break time and for all to come together, or if that is not appropriate for two classes at a time to come to the kitchen and to give junior infants a chance to come with their minders from 6 classes.
Are 400 pancakes enough as there is 382 children in the school. They will again cost 1 euro each and all children are welcome. Helpers available on the day are, Carmel Flynn, Jackie Leonard, Marie Kilfeather, Susan Cox, Bernie Murphy and Gladys Rooney.

School web-site
It was talked about if it was possible to look into seeing how many people look at the school web-site.
Miss McSharry’s Retirement
There is a Mass being held in the halla on Friday 29 Jan. at 11a.m. and all are welcome to attend. That evening there has been a meal arranged in the Sligo Park Hotel for 64 people. There is space for 6 from the Parent’s Association to attend. Bernie Murphy is going to organise the people for it. It has been agreed that a gift from The Cat & The Moon will be presented to her on behalf of the Parents’ Association on the day.
