The minutes of the last meeting Thursday 04 March 2010 were read and agreed.

ITEM
Uniforms
It was agreed among the association not to have an open day/night for parents to come and look at the second hand uniforms as it was thought that parents would not attend. Instead we are going to ask for it to be advertised on the school web-site and also in the next monthly newsletter sent out. ACTION BY Gladys Rooney


Funding for Gaol posts
The goal posts have been assembled and have come from a company in Donegal which have cost around 1,500euro. Mr. Gallagher is going to look into getting some funding from different areas for the cost of the netting.
It has been agreed not to go ahead with the school disco as there is too many guidelines to be followed for it and it is a very big responsibility.
Instead we are going to hopefully hold a no uniform day to raise some funds.

Ceile
Is has been suggested to look in town this year for a venue to hold the Ceile. It was mentioned to look into the Glasshouse or The Southern Hotel. Pauline is going to look into having Margo Farrell playing at it. We hope to hold it some time in June.

Communion Party/Confirmation
Brenda McCallion has agreed to do the photos for the event. They will be 6x8 mounted and will cost €10. The class photo will be the same size and price.

On March 26 a letter went out to all parents involved with her number on it for them to book her for this special occasion.

Dennis Rooney is to complete the DVD at a cost of €20. No parents to video during the mass please. Marie Kilfeather is to collect the money for the DVD’s from the classes.

Marie and Susan to go to the cash & carry to get the supplies for the day. Caroline to ring Pat Conway for the day. Notes to go out to the classes to request cakes and bakes for the party.

For the Confirmation the children must keep their robes on for a photo with the Bishop. Marie and Susan have agreed to size the robes and collect the money for them.

Book Fair
The Parents’ Association is to be in charge of the book fair this year. It is known as The Red Box Planning Kit. It will be held during the week beginning 24th May. It is worked on a commission basis for the school. The more we sell the better value for the school. For example if we sell €3,000 worth of books the school will get €1,830 of free books, or if the school decides to take the commission in cash it will receive 20% of the sales.

It will be held over 3 days. It is recommended that the first day is viewing only. Selling will take place on the 2 other days with selling taking place during the day and also on 1 evening.
The school will avail of posters on show during the days of selling. A note is to go out to look for volunteers for the event.

School Gardens
There has been some work completed in the school gardens throughout the Easter break. Mrs McNabola is looking for some funding to go towards the work.

Board Games
Mr Gallagher had requested that board games be given to each class for the children to play on rainy days when they are unable to go outside. It was suggested that families could donate a game of which will then be checked before being distributed to the classes.
