Marionette Theatre: The school has organised a theatrical performance and workshops by the Marionette Theatre Company for all classes on Tuesday & Wednesday, the 25 & 26 of May. The show entitled “ The Little Cabinet of Curiosities” is both educational and entertaining and the company come highly recommended. The cost per child is normally €6, but with discount and school subsidisation, we can do it for €4 per child. Please send in the money to the class teacher as soon as possible.
Súgradh le Chéile: Thank you to all the parents and 1 Class pupils who participated in the Súgradh le Chéile workshop and also to the teachers, Ms Greavy and Mrs Kernan for arranging this very enjoyable event.
Lilac Day: A big thank you to everyone who made this year’s Lilac Day such a success. The school raised €565 for the Bláthnaid Foley Memorial Cancer Trust Fund. Thank you also to the Parents’ Association for arranging a very enjoyable Easter Egg Hunt on the same day.
Greenschools: Our Greenschools assessment took place last Monday, April the 19, and, while we have not been told yet whether we were successful or not, we are quietly confident of achieving our fourth Green Flag. A big thank you to the hardworking committee and all the teachers and pupils who have put in such an effort with the Travel Theme. We would encourage all families to continue with your efforts to reduce car journeys especially in this good spell of weather.
Open Day: Our Open Day for new enrolees to the school was a great success. A big thank you to Mrs Corcoran & Mrs Whelan for facilitating the day and to everyone who helped have the school looking so well for the event. There are still places available so please spread the word if you know of anyone considering enrolling a child for the coming September.
GAA Mini-Sevens: Well done to the Girls’ Mini-Sevens Football Team who did very well recently in their Semi-Final Blitz Event in Ballintogher. They finished runner-up on the day losing out narrowly to the eventual winners. The Boys & Girls 15-a-Side teams will be getting their Schools Championship campaigns underway shortly and the two panels are in training at the moment under the guidance of their coaches, Ms Murphy & Ms. Caffrey.
GAA Blitz: A Gaelic Football blitz tournament for 3 & 4 classes will take place on Wednesday next, the 28 of April in Kevinsfort at 10:30 am.
FAIS Primary Schools 5-a-Side Soccer: The FAIS Sligo 5-a-side Soccer also takes place next week, with the Boys’ team playing in the Showgrounds on Wednesday while the girls play on Thursday. Both tournaments get underway at 10:00am.
Congratulations: Heartiest Congratulations to Ms Lisa Naughton, who recently secured a permanent appointment in Rockfield National School, where she had previously taught. She will be sorely missed by everyone in Scoil Ursula especially her Senior Infant Class. Ms Naughton takes up her new position after the May Bank Holiday weekend. We bid her a fond farewell and wish her every success and happiness in her future career.
