On Friday last, the Staff & Pupils of Scoil Ursula welcomed representatives of Sligo Rovers Football Club and the FAI Cup to the school for what is becoming an annual event in the school calendar, our ‘Bit o’ Red’ Day!! The pupils and teachers decorated the school and themselves in red for the occasion and gave a rousing welcome to the three players, who played a huge part in the winning of the cup last season, defender, Alan Keane, Cup Final goalscorer, Iarfhlaith Davoren and specialist penalty-stopper, Ciarán Kelly! Sligo Rovers Club Promotions Officer, Keith O’ Dwyer thanked everyone for their support and looked forward to the new season with great hope and confidence. He encouraged everyone to show the same support to the team on the terraces as they had shown the players on their visit.

A big thank you to everyone who made the effort to wear the ‘Bit o’ Red’ on the day and for ‘painting the school red’ over the previous week, especially our Rovers Supporter-in-Chief, Ms Dwyer, for adorning the hall so beautifully for the occasion and our Caretaker, Liam, who helped her out. Our thanks also to our official photographer, Seán Carleton, who did a fantastic job on providing a pictorial record of the occasion. We look forward to another successful season for Rovers this year and hopefully we will celebrate another ‘Bit o’ Red’ Day in 2013 and welcome more trophies to our school including, perhaps, the Championship Trophy itself!!
