We had some very special guests at our Assembly; members of the Board of Management: Canon Tom Hever, John Mc Nabola and our Chairperson Marian Moore. There was plenty of stories, prayer, song and live music! We've got some clips of the fantastic singing and music with thanks to everyone who took part and especially to Ms. Branley for organising our talented music group and practicing the songs with all of the classes. Everyone here in Scoil Ursula would like to wish you and yours a Happy, Holy and Peaceful Christmas full of joy and laughter and the very best wishes for the New Year. See you all in 2013!
Another great performance from Ms. Crowley & Mrs. Kernan's classes as they tell the story of the birth of our Lord. Hope you all enjoy the clips as much as we enjoyed the production! Last week we were all treated to a fantastic performance of "It's a Baby!", a nativity sing along play by Mrs. Corcoran's and Ms. Dwyer's Junior Infant Classes. The whole school came along to the Halla to share in this great Christmas tradition. We were able to record clips of the play so that you can see the Oscar winners of the future in action! Well done to all of the pupils and staff involved in this wonderful production! The John Murray Radio Show popped in to Scoil Ursula last week and talked to some of our 1st Class pupils about Halloween and Sligo. The children dressed up in their costumes and chatted to Colm, the show's interviewer. The show was broadcast on Friday during the Sligo Live Show and you can listen back by clicking on the link below. The kids are on at around the 35 minute mark.http://www.rte.ie/radio/radioplayer/rteradioweb.html#!rii=9%3A10067691%3A4502%3A26%2D10%2D2012%3A For a number of weeks and months now members of the Music Generation Sligo team have been visiting Scoil Ursula and working with the children in music lessons. These lessons have been really fun interactive and a great learning experience for the children. The events taking place in Sligo on International Music Day 21st June involve many members of the Music Regeneration Sligo team. So maybe if you are around Johnston's Court on the day or listening to Ocean FM you'll catch some of their fantastic music! A big thank you to all who helped bring this wonderful experience to our school over the past while! West Midlands Theatre Group performed "The King of Copenhagen" for the Junior classes of Scoil Ursula last week. It was a very enjoyable interactive performance as you can see from the photos below. As part of their Educational Outreach programme Lyric FM presenters Lorcan Murray and Eamonn Lenihan brought a mobile radio studio to Scoil Ursula. Fundamental aspects of radio programme making were discussed and pupils from 6th class prepared, presented and produced a programme. A big Thank You to Mrs Corcoran for organising this very enjoyable and worthwhile event!! There was great success for many pupils of Scoil Ursula in Feis Shligigh this year with many of the competitors working very hard outside school and giving great performances on stage. There was however one group of actors and actresses from 5th and 6th class who worked very hard during and after school learning lines and rehearsing their drama. They are of course the cast from "If you go down to the Woods". Today they took home the D.A. Mulcahy Cup for the National Schools Drama Competition in Feis Shligigh. Over the past few months they performed the play twice in the school and were rewarded today for all their effort, achieving 95% from the adjudicator. We are all very proud of them today. A huge thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff for their help in putting this production together. Congratulations to one and all who were involved in the Feis today you've done yourselves and your school very proud! |
